Tadcaster Grammar School’s Big Band will fill the Riley-Smith Hall in Tadcaster with the sound of music, all in aid of the Chairman of Selby District Council’s chosen charities.
The Chairman’s Charity Concert, which will take place on Saturday May 17 at 7pm is being sponsored by Barchester Health Care’s Highfield Care Home and organised by its Activities Co-ordinator Richard Sweeting.
“This will be a wonderful concert and I am very grateful to Tadcaster Grammar School’s Big Band, under the baton of Gillian Hainsworth, for giving up their time to support the Chairman’s chosen charities, which this year are St Leonard’s Hospice, York Against Cancer and Selby District Vision,” said Mr Sweeting. “The Big Band has an excellent reputation in the area for its professional sound and we are very lucky to secure them, especially as they are always in demand at various functions,” added Mr Sweeting.
The format of the evening will be relaxed style with a café bar available. In attendance will be the Vice-Chairman of North Yorkshire County Council, Councillor Tim Swales and the Chairman of Selby District himself, John Cattanach.
“The Big Band will perform a selection of popular standards, including ‘In The Mood’, ‘Moonlight Serenade’ and ‘Little Brown Jug’ and we will also include more recent hits such as ‘Skyfall’ and Michael Buble’s ‘Haven’t Met You Yet’,” said Mrs Hainsworth.
