Crime prevention advice

Safer Neighbourhood Teams have also reiterated their warning to residents about sneak-in burglaries. Officers continue to take reports of opportunist thieves sneaking into houses through open doors and windows and are urging householders to lock their doors and windows if they are out of sight.

An open door or ground floor window  is a magnet to an opportunist thief, especially if valuables are left nearby which they can quickly grab.

Remember our most simple and cost-free crime prevention advice –  lock up and hide your stuff from view.

The same applies to your car, leaving valuables on view is an invitation to thieves to break in to your car. Always remove valuables such as handbags, mobiles and satnavs from your car.

Members of the public can help the police by reporting any suspicious activity or vehicles in their neighbourhood to the police by calling 101.

If you see a crime in progress always call 999.
