Tadcaster Dog Show May 2013

Even the weather cleared and the sun cam out today for the Tadcaster Dog Show. The show was in aid of the Safe Anchor Trust who provide free access to the country’s waterways for special needs groups.

It was great to see that the dog show had attracted a lot of interest and a lot of local dogs.

Food and refreshments were provided by the Magnets Sports & Social Club, there were also stalls for raffles, dog treats and toys and even a dog portrait stand.

The show was a great success with the children too, there were prizes for a variety of fields in the Junior category.

The Safe Anchor Trust was established in 1995 to support and continue the canal trips project developed by the probation service in 1993.

By December 2009 over 100,000 passengers associated with 750 community groups had enjoyed outings on our boats. The primary aim of the Trust is to provide access to the canals for special needs groups, those with health mobility problems and socially disadvantaged groups. We also seek to support groups who often have difficulty in taking part in everyday leisure activity.

A major focus is to support organisations that require social and recreational activities to maintain or improve the help of their users.

We rely solely on voluntary contributions and donations for our service, for which the Trust is extremely grateful.
